MENSTRUAL STIGMA -Tomilola Prevailer Akinpelu
Some are even ashamed to mention or buy sanitary pad.. The truth is that women go through a lot during menstruation, ranging from pain, mood swings etc😞
Some even force themselves to go to work/school during that period despite the excruciating pain....
📌The aim of this write up is to change the taboos and stigma towards menstruation and raise awareness about maintaining menstrual hygiene..
It is so sad that some people still see a woman as "dirty" during her period.
Some cultures don't even allow a woman to cook during her period
Some people don't even use buckets or equipments women use during that period because they consider it as unclean😞
Some women are ashamed to tell people they are on their period
We're meant to change the stigma and taboos regarding menstruation and to let the world know that menstruation is a normal physiology of the female reproductive system..
Buy your female friends pads.. They need it..It is not every time sharwama
No woman should be termed "dirty" or "unclean" during her period..No need for discrimination or inferiority complex
The world's menstrual hygiene day is May 28th which is quite unique. The date 28 shows the average cycle length..
The month may (5th) shows the average period or "bleeding" duration
Thanks for joining HRI community
The uniqueness of the date 28 is it for me 😍
